Hi, I'm Dr Jessica.

I live in Waterloo with my husband and two children. Like most women, I wear many hats- I am a wife, mom and Naturopathic Doctor striving to balance it all.
Like most of you reading this, I don't fit into one box. I pride myself on making sure to focus on realistic expectations and balance. My job is to empower you to lead your healthiest life. To ensure you have all the information and resources you need to make the best decisions for you and your family.
My practice always focuses on diet and lifestyle with a primary focus on women’s health including hormone imbalance, stress, cortisol balance, weight loss, sleep and menstrual concerns. Being a mother myself, I strive to make all of my treatment recommendations individualized, realistic and attainable, supporting women through all stages, from understanding the menstrual cycle, hormones and fertility to PMS, PCOS, irregular menses, hormone imbalance, perimenopause and menopause. My goal is always to support and empower my patients to reach their health goals.
In addition, in practice I also provide acupuncture including fertility acupuncture and asian medicine acupuncture as well as dry needling for muscle concerns/pain and facial rejuvenation (cosmetic) acupuncture.
I love what I do. Helping people find and maintain health is amazingly rewarding. When the basics are there, people will thrive!
- I'm a 'crunchy' mama who loves baby wearing, co-sleeping/bed-sharing, extended breast feeding and attachment parenting; BUT I also love Banana Republic, pencil skirts and designer bags.
- I use all chemical free personal care products and make up; BUT I also love getting my hair coloured.
- I try to keep our diet homemade and processed free; BUT I also love Starbucks Caramel Macchiatos (as a treat).
- I drink protein smoothies with my kids for breakfast every morning; BUT I also love chocolate and good coffee.

HOW I GOT HERE
After my third year at the University of Waterloo, I had an incredible opportunity to travel to Central America with International Service Learning Organization (ISL) where I spent three weeks providing healthcare to under serviced areas throughout Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
It was a life-changing and educational experience, learning to work with a different culture, with different constraints and availability of preventative care. It filled me with a sense of gratitude for what we have available to us, here in Canada, to allow us to take control of our own health. After returning to Canada, I knew that healthcare was what I wanted to do.
After being accepted to (Allopathic) Medical School, I was hesitant, feeling something was missing. A friend suggested that I look into Naturopathic Medicine and right away, I knew that was where I belonged.
My main reservation with the allopathic stream was that most of the practice focuses on 'sick care', treating the illness after it's developed and a lot of symptom management. Time is also limited, so you don't get a chance to really know your patient and all the factors that are affecting them. After spending time in Central America, I became very aware of the privilege we have here in Canada to really take control of our health and prevent illness.
